Welcome to todays clash between Galaxy Massachusetts and FC Illinois. 6.602 fans have bought tickets for this exciting prospect of a game.
It's nearly go time, so we'd best give you the team news, the home side have opted to play 4-4-2, with Troy Glenn - Cory Cohen, Kenny Flores, Ramiro Turner, William Meola - Ken James, Kerry Clear, Kasey Hart, Stefan Straub - Jeff Voltz, Werner Roberts.
The visitors have decided upon 4-4-2, using Francis Ferreira - Chris Allnutt, Jonathan Onyewu, Ritchie Bandov, Raphael Krumpe - Carlos Coker, Leroy Megson, Poli Goodson, Denny Cook - Gerry Ching, Scott Auld.

Today's ref is Bernie Pope, who was born in USA and belongs to the association of North Carolina. He is known to be firm but fair, and he will take no nonsense from the players or managers. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few cards given out in today's match.

Min.6, Denny Cook got on the on the end of that poor clearance by the defence and calmly chested the ball down and struck a beautiful half volley towards the goal. It looked as if the keeper tipped that over, but the ref's given a goal kick. Great effort! Min.9,' Galaxy Massachusetts pardom it. Jeff Voltz hunt a clearance of Francis Ferreira but he sent it outside.' Did he really Manuel? Thanks. Min.10, Denny Cook has headed over from 4 yards out, after a pin point cross from Carlos Coker. Wasted opportunity. Min.19, Stefan Straub sent a long ball towards Jeff Voltz however Francis Ferreira decides to come from his area and calmly hoof it back up the field. Min.22, Werner Roberts of Galaxy Massachusetts shoots but hits the bar. He's got a crack at the rebound all alone in front of Francis Ferreira... how did he miss that?! Unbelievable. Min.33, huge play of Ken James from the right side which finishes with a 'death' back pass, but Raphael Krumpe very watchful cuts down the pass in the small area when it looked like it would be a shouted goal. Incredible play of Ken James, who did all well but his pass didn't find a striker.

Min.45, half time here, with the score at 0-0, as they say, it's not over til the fat lady sings, so lets see what the second half brings us. The home team had 57 %. possession of the ball.

Min.51, Possession is all very well but you have to make it count, and Leroy Megson needs to make the pass. Now he plays the ball into the midfield, but the pass is too soft and poorly aimed. The rival defence intercept the ball without any problems. Poor; very poor. Min.55, William Meola put a cross in towards Kerry Clear at the front post, but Francis Ferreira came and made a superb punch out in a difficult position. Min.64, Scott Auld left the defense behind. The moment Gerry Ching ran straight towards the keeper he should have known that a pass-like ball would be sufficient to hit the net yet he attempts a shot and the as expected the ball flew high and wide right into the stands. Troy Glenn was blatantly laughing after that horrible attempt quite honestly we can only agree. Min.69, Kenny Flores shoots from distance, but it will take something special to beat Francis Ferreira who gathers it with ease. Min.73, Kerry Clear crosses for Werner Roberts, his marker Ritchie Bandov trips over and after some grappling, both players end up in a mess on the floor, they want a penalty but they're not getting it. Min.77, Ken James makes a good run in from the right touchline, before going 1-on-1 with Raphael Krumpe, who eventually wins the ball and clears it away. Min.83, Jeff Voltz has got some magic feet and shows us all his trickery to get into a great position in the box, unfortunately for him, he's a complete donkey and tripped over his twinkle toes and face planted the ball, which proceeds to roll out harmlessly for a goal kick. Min.84, FC Illinois nearly scored. Gerry Ching ran onto a great ball from Denny Cook, which beat the offside trap, the keeper came rushing out and the lob was attempted, but the lob didnt succeed.

Min.90, The whistle has been blown, ending the game at 0-0. The home team had 57 %. possession of the ball.
